Take Care in the Heat
In London we are in the midst of what can only described as an atypical heat wave. I am the sort of person who is generally cold. Cold when it’s actually fairly warm, cold when I am tucked up in bed with an electric blanket on, cold when I have layers of clothes on and the sun is shining. I am not cold anymore. I am officially warm- not hot- warm. I even perspired yesterday- that’s unheard of. Forecasts are saying that this summer is likely to be the hottest London has experienced in a while, with temperatures heading into the thirties (if forecasters are to be believed). If this really is the case, then I would advise anyone with children or anyone at all to go out and purchase a water cooler or a drinking water fountain for their home. When the sun is glaring down, it is more important than ever to keep hydrated. People assume that Britain is somehow exempt from being a sun burn danger zone, but actually it’s more likely you’ll be burnt in Britain than anywhere else. People regularly go outside in the hot weather without any protection and with a can of beer instead of water. This should stop.
